Our Story

We built Baylotte Skin because we couldn't find what we were looking for.

When we first started researching skincare formulas, we kept running into the same problem.

Every product that performed well had something in it that shouldn't be there. DMDM Hydantoin for texture. Synthetic fragrance to smell premium. Parabens to extend shelf life. Artificial colourants to look aesthetically appealing on a shelf.

We understood why brands made these choices. These ingredients are inexpensive, effective in the short term, and widely available. The products look beautiful, smell beautiful, and feel beautiful in your hands.

But what are they doing to your skin over months and years of daily use?

The ingredient that changed everything

We dug deeper. We found that DMDM Hydantoin — a preservative used extensively across the Indian personal care industry — had already been banned in the European Union and restricted in the United States due to its formaldehyde-releasing properties. Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen. And yet, this ingredient appears in the vast majority of moisturisers, shampoos, conditioners, and serums sold across Indian markets today. Not because brands are unaware. But because consumers haven't been told to look for it.

That realisation changed everything for us.

Starting from zero

We decided to start over. To formulate without any of the ingredients we could not stand behind. No DMDM Hydantoin. No parabens of any kind. No synthetic fragrances. No artificial colourants. No formaldehyde releasers of any form.

What we were left with were formulas that looked nothing like what the market expected. Completely transparent. No appealing colour. No seductive fragrance. When you open a Baylotte Skin product, it smells like a laboratory — because every molecule in that bottle is an active one, present for a specific purpose, doing a specific job on your skin.

The harder sell we chose anyway

We knew this was a harder sell. We knew people would open our products and hesitate. The beauty industry has trained us to associate colour, fragrance, and texture with quality. We have been taught that if a product smells good, it must be good.

We are here to challenge that.

At Baylotte Skin, we believe that real skincare does not need to perform for your senses. It needs to perform for your skin. And skin does not care what something smells like. Skin cares about what actually touches it, absorbs into it, and changes it over time.

Every formula we make is honest in a way that most skincare is not. You can read every ingredient on our label and understand exactly why it is there. Nothing is hidden inside the word 'fragrance.' Nothing is there to make the product feel premium while quietly irritating your skin barrier.

We are not here to be the most luxurious smelling brand on your shelf. We are here to be the most trustworthy one.

Baylotte Skin. Pure by choice. Honest by nature.
