Why does your product smell like medicine?
Because it is medicine for your skin. Every scent in our products comes from an active ingredient — nothing synthetic, nothing added to mask what's inside. We chose honesty over luxury fragrance, because synthetic fragrances are one of the top triggers of skin irritation globally.
Why are your products colourless / transparent?
We do not add artificial dyes or colourants to our formulas. The colour of your skincare has no effect on how well it works — it is purely cosmetic. We removed it to keep the formula clean and to reduce the risk of skin sensitisation.
What is DMDM Hydantoin and why should I care?
DMDM Hydantoin is a preservative used widely in Indian personal care products. It works by slowly releasing formaldehyde — a known carcinogen — over the life of the product. It has been banned in the European Union and restricted in the USA. Baylotte Skin contains zero DMDM Hydantoin, and never will.
Is your product safe for sensitive skin?
Our formulas are designed with sensitive skin in mind. By removing common irritants — DMDM Hydantoin, parabens, synthetic fragrance, and artificial colour — we have eliminated the ingredients most likely to trigger reactions. However, we always recommend a patch test before applying any new product.
Why does it feel different from other products I have used?
Most skincare products use synthetic texture enhancers and silicones to create a luxurious, silky feel. We rely on the natural properties of our active ingredients and clean base formulas. The texture may feel simpler — but what is going into your skin is cleaner.
Can I use your products if I am pregnant?
Our formulas are free from many of the ingredients most commonly restricted during pregnancy. However, please consult your doctor before starting any new skincare routine during pregnancy, as individual circumstances vary.
What preservatives do you use instead of parabens and DMDM?
We use modern, internationally approved preservation systems that do not release formaldehyde and are not endocrine disruptors. Our preservation choices are fully disclosed in our ingredient lists — no hidden chemistry.
